Glacier National Park Vow Renewal With Kids

After 15 years of marriage, Vijay and Andrea decided to renew their vows at Glacier National Park. This time around they wanted it to be simple and relaxing with just them and the beautiful children their relationship created.

They began their morning bright and early so they could catch the sun rising over Lake MacDonald. It was truly a stunning sight. It set the tone for the whole experience. Following the breathtaking view, they headed out on a trail to Avalanche Lake. Avalanche Lake Trail is one of the most popular hikes in the US so the early morning certainly helped to avoid the hundred of hikers visiting that day. Just like the incredible sunrise we were gifted with, the crowds parted right where we wanted to renew their vows. The Universe was certainly smiling down on us that day.

Why Did You Choose to Renew Your Vows in Montana

As we started planning this special day, the location remained up in the air. We discussed possibly heading somewhere all-inclusive like so many do for their Vow Renewals. But we’ve never been the type of couple that does what everyone else is doing. We got married at the Atlanta Zoo 1 year to the day after getting our marriage license at the Dekalb County Courthouse. So why would this vow renewal be any different? After some ideas thrown out by the kids and I, Vijay mentioned we sadly had no plans to go back to Montana anytime soon…and I said ‘Duh, that’s it!’

Montana is truly special, magical even! Especially Glacier National Park. We could spend a lifetime in there and never get bored of it. Funny enough, before we ever got married, Vijay said his dream place to retire was Montana. Sounded crazy to me because it seemed remote and I knew nothing about it. Once we both visited Montana together, it became OUR favorite place…OUR paradise! So Montana was the perfect place to renew our lives together.

What Inspired You Most When Reflecting On Your Relationship and Writing Your Vows?

As we spent time writing our vows, we both reflected on our 17 years together and 15 years of marriage and kept coming back to the same theme. We chose each other through every disagreement, every difficult situation, every heath issue and addiction. Being able to communicate properly was an uphill battle when you both have different upbringings, but the things that made us different actually brought us together. Being able to see each other at our worst moments helped us both get to our best selves yet!

We are so grateful we had the opportunity to spend the morning documenting this special day with Trisha, Halle and Carter. The hike was truly a metaphor for life together. The climb through tough roots and obstacles, but getting to the beauty of Avalanche Lake to profess our undying love each other, in front of our children, made it all worth it. It was truly magical!
