This engagement session turned into a family adventure session in Yosemite National Park. When Kiani and James asked if their girls could tag along, I of course said, YES!! After all, when you marry someone with children you are not just promising a future with that one person, you are promising to honor a future as a whole family. The best part about this group of 4 is I had no idea who actually belonged to whom based on blood relation…they had such an incredible bond and respect for each other.
Yosemite National Park Elopement or Engagement Session Pointers
I live in Minnesota, but when Kiani and James booked me for their Fall wedding in Vacaville, California, I excitedly recommended us meet in Yosemite National Park while I was there vacationing. After researching the Park, we decided to meet in the morning before the Park officially opened. Thank goodness for this… Yosemite Valley is packed from 8am-2pm and it would have made for a stressful adventure.
- Aim for sunrise or sunset (sunset is the prettiest in the Valley, but can still be pretty busy with enthusiastic photographers).
- A wide angle lens is necessary if you want to capture the vastness of the scene.
- Allow extra time in case parking lots are full and you need to improvise or walk to the desired location.
- Dress in layers because the weather is unpredictable in the mountains
- Wear comfy shoes so you can happily and comfortably explore the Park. It’s too beautiful to just stay in one spot!!
