Morgan and Josh left the cold winter of Minnesota behind and hosted a Destination Wedding at The Grand Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico. They, along with their favorite people, didn’t just have one day to celebrate, but 4 full days of fun and adventure together. The Grand Moon Palace Resort is a five star resort in the heart of Cancun. It offers plenty of activities, including a bunch of pools, beach volleyball, a theater, waterpark, lazy river and more. But the greatest thing it offers…the most delicious food and desserts I have ever eaten!!
What made you decide to have a destination wedding?
Over the years we recognized that at traditional domestic weddings the interactions with guests rarely lasted longer than the rehearsal and wedding day. By going the destination route, we had 3+ full days with all of our guests and were able to make the celebration an enjoyable, personal experience for all and not simply making the rounds at dinner. This, in addition to our love for adventure, made it an easy decision to spend time with our closest friends and family in paradise!
Morgan and Josh’s Welcome Dinner was moved from the rooftop Terrace to The Ballroom due to rain. They embraced the change and had a fabulous time!
Why did you choose The Grand at Moon Palace Resort for your venue?
They have an abundance of activities and venues, making it perfect for our wedding events, daily activities and late night entertainment for all preferences. The Karaoke Bar and Speakeasy were the 2 late night hits of the trip!
What was your goal for the Wedding day?
We wanted to bring our extended families and closest friends together to celebrate our next chapter. Planning everything ourselves directly with the resort allowed us to keep details secret and as a result our guests were so surprised and came to celebrate with no expectations!
Any tips or advice for engaged couples considering a destination wedding?
Do it! We Highly recommend an all inclusive or a resort with many amenities. With this setup, all events are within the property so guests don’t have to commute large distances. This translates to less time travelling and more time celebrating!
A few favorite moments from your week long adventure in Mexico….
- Sipping espresso martinis with all of our family and friends in the Speakeasy
- Beach walks and reading our private vow letters to each other on the beach the morning of our wedding
- Sunset catamaran ride with all of our guests
- Dancing the night away at the reception on the beach with fireworks
