Kari and Jeff currently reside in New York, but when Kari’s father said he would help prepare the original farmstead he grew up on, they knew that was the perfect place to host their dream backyard wedding.

The Minnesota Farmstead

The farmstead is located near Cushing, Minnesota near the Brainerd Lakes area. It is surrounded by lush oak and maple trees, a few pines, and a perfectly curated sunflower field grown specially for their day. They set up a beautiful ceremony sight near the sunflower field. On the other side of the backyard was the reception area where Short Stop Catering set up an outdoor bar and buffet style meal. After the meal we snuck away for sunset photos by the original farmstead home and sunflower field. Then the dancing began! Kari and Jeff hung lights in the trees for a romantic ambiance. The “romantic” ambiance lasted for a few minutes before the party vibes took over. DJ Blakk brought the energy, and the guests thrived in it. So many laughs and crazy dance moves were shared under those hung lights in the trees.

Alongside the dance floor was a fire-pit where guests mingled and made s’mores long into the night. It truly was as enjoyable as it sounds!!

Favorite part of the wedding day

The whole day was absolutely amazing. I don’t know if I can chose a favorite part. We had so much support leading up the the wedding, and on the day of, I feel like we were truly able to enjoy it to its fullest. The look on Jeff’s face when we did our first look will always be a treasured memory. He was a little worried leading up to the wedding that I expected him to cry either at the first look or as I walked down the aisle. That’s not really who he is as a person, and I let him know I didn’t expect it. So he didn’t need to fake tears to make me feel better. His genuine reaction of happiness and love was everything I could have wished for and more.
