Faith’s love for vintage flair makes this wedding feature a must-see for any bride planning a vintage-inspired wedding. From the table decor to her hair-do and wedding gown, it is truly beautiful and classic. Faith must confess… she did try on a few vintage dresses worn by past family members but she could not resist her impulse to purchase a classic French made dress from The White Room in Minneapolis. One of my favorite moments was when she and Troy entered their wedding reception in the back of his Grandfather’s vintage truck, a restored Ford 29 model A for all you car enthusiasts out there;) The only thing more special was his Dad’s big smile as he proudly drove them down the hill.
“The whole vintage inspired theme came to me after my grandma pulled out her original cake topper from her and my grandpa’s 1960 wedding and photo of them eating cake together. She still had the receipt for her 3 tier wedding cake. It was $24.00. Well, things have definitely changed since then. That inspired me to use things of old as I continued down the planning road. I thought it would be so special to use and re-purpose things that have special meaning to us. Like Troy’s Grandfather’s truck. We decided to use vintage China found from local thrift stores and antique joints. The vases were different versions of milk glass which I’ve loved since a kid. It was actually quite difficult to find a baker who would even take on the task of making a classic tiered wedding cake as they’re such a thing of the past. The forks we ate our wedding cake from were the oldest piece in the house being Troy’s great grandmother’s from 1847. For the gift card box we also used a picnic basket my dad (John) mother used to take her 4 boys on trips to the lake after a long day of farming. Their goal was to incorporate everyone’s family in some special way. – photo do the whole room If you have any would be nice on blog to get the bigger picture look.
The reception which was hosted in one of Minnesota’s newest wedding venues up north, Barn in the Woods. It’s located just north of Grand Rapids in the small town of Bovey. It is a MUST SEE!!
Troy and Faith first became good friends while in the same 6th grade class – Oak Hill Elementary School “Go Owls!” They ended up attending different high schools and only saw each other a few times over the years. Remember, this era was before cell phones. There was No texting and social media to easily stay connected.
On the first day of college orientation at College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University we ran into each other, rather in actuality Troy and his friends yelled “Faaaiiith!” until I figured out who the heck they all were. Sure enough, we all rekindled our friendships like no time had passed. Fast forward to post-college, both living in Central Minnesota searching for our place in the world as mid twenty somethings our relationship bloomed into something new – a partnership together. Here we are, years later, with a doggo and a duplex in St. Paul. Sometimes love can present itself differently than you imagine – glad ours started with a friendship.

Due to Covid, Faith and Troy decided to have an intimate ceremony in St. Paul near their home with just immediate family and a couple friends present. At a later date they hosted the reception at The Barn In The Woods in Bovey, Minnesota. The Barn holds a special place in their hearts because Faith’s parents are friends with the owners and took part in the building process. After many hours, more like days or months, they turned an overgrown plot of land filled with trees into a beautiful modern barn wedding venue.

Paige did a make up tutorial/lesson so I could do my own make up and have a matched look for both days. She said it was unconventional to teach a bride but I actually loved the process and learned a lot for my future make up needs. My hair was done by my sister in law.
