My favorite thing about being a photographer is the amazing people I get to meet along the way. I had the honor of photographing two of Nick’s brothers weddings over the past few years. And anyone who photographs weddings can attest to the fact that you arrive as strangers, but leave feeling like family, so this group of people have a special place in my heart. This wasn’t the first time I made my way to this beautiful home in South Haven Minnesota. It was the perfect backyard wedding venue a few years ago when Nick’s brother was married there, but this time it featured a new building perfectly situated on top of the hill. It made for the coolest night-time silhouette so make sure you scroll to the end to check it out!!
Why a simple Minnesota backyard wedding was perfect for them…
We knew having an over the top wedding wasn’t our style – so our goal was to keep it simple, intimate, and easy. In trying to accomplish that, we felt having our wedding at Nicks parent’s home was a perfect fit. We had an intimate ceremony with just our immediate family, where Nicks brother Spencer officiated and married us. It was truly so sweet and exactly what we wanted. After that, we couldn’t wait to let loose and have fun with our guests! One of the best parts of our wedding day (besides knowing all the wedding related stress would soon be coming to an end) was dancing with our closest friends and family and completely being in the moment.
What was the most special part of your intimate wedding day?
As I stated during our post-dinner speeches, everyone in that room was an accumulation of our time together. Each person there was at one point either a loved one of Nicks or a loved one of mine, and over the course of our relationship they’ve become ours together. It was heartwarming seeing how happy and excited everyone was for us.
Alaska Honeymoon Plans…
After our wedding we took our honeymoon to Alaska. It was something we have dreamt about early on in our relationship. We’re glad we were able to spend quality time with one another after such a busy time. We loved every minute!
