Minnesota Mini-mony prior to their Cancun Destination Wedding • Xsperience Photography

Minnesota is a beautiful state, especially when the snow flies in the midst of winter. But winter is unpredictable and it is long…very very long. So that, along with the difficult process of legally getting married in Mexico as a US citizen, made a minimony in Minnesota combined with an elaborate destination wedding in Cancun sound the perfect wedding plan to Kari and Brad!

Being we could only hold a Symbolic ceremony in Cancun (not legally binding), we decided to have a ‘mini-mony’ here in Minnesota rather than just going to the courthouse. It was also an opportunity to have our grandparents present since they were not able to travel to Cancun with us. We wanted this day to be very intimate, and it was just that! With the fluffiest snowflakes coming down, and the coziest candle-lit cafe, we celebrated saying I Do and officially becoming Mr. & Mrs.! Ready to trade our furs and boots for sun and suits, we are now ready to head off to Mexico for the ‘real’ wedding with all of our family and friends!

The day started at Kari’s parent’s place in Wanamingo Minnesota. The most talented Hair and Makeup artists worked their magic while the ladies sipped on mimosas and shared stories and laughs about how Kari crushed on Brad since she was a little girl. After Kari’s classic look was complete, we drove off to their land where they plan to build in the near future. There, Brad awaited his stunning bride, freezing, but excited. The temps lingered around zero degrees, but the pretty snow flurries made it all worth it!

After the first look we headed to the small town of Kenyon where the two were officially married in their Church. Only their closest family members were present, making it a very intimate and relaxing event. The intimacy continued as we celebrated with cocktails and dinner at their favorite coffee shop, Area 57.
