Minnesota Fall Engagement Session | Kylie + Joey

Kylie and Joey left their Minneapolis city life behind for the evening and celebrated their engagement in the countryside. They met Associate Photographer Sam at the Arboretum in St. John’s University. It was a beautiful Fall day filled with laughs, hugs and a whole lot of flirting:)

How did you meet?

Joey and I met at college, but we were never more than acquaintances. After graduation, our friends all moved to different places across the state and country, but we both ended up in the Minneapolis area. My friends begged me for months to hang out with Joey, and finally, on a random Wednesday, I caved and texted him. For the next several weeks, we met at restaurants and bars after work and talked for hours. One night, he asked me to come to a bonfire with him and meet his family. From that point on, we were inseparable. Six months later, Joey somehow convinced me to move to his hometown, where we now have a house and the cutest dog. In August 2022, on a last-minute trip to Vegas, Joey proposed on the top floor of Resorts World overlooking the city at sunset.

Wedding Plans at Northern Oaks….

We can’t wait to get married next October surrounded by our friends and family. We knew our venue, Northern Oaks, was the one immediately after touring. The venue has everything we wanted; a gorgeous log home with space to get ready, a ceremony site surrounded by a pond and rows of trees, and a reception space that is beautiful all on its own. But our favorite thing about Northern Oaks is that the property used to be a family home that they turned into a wedding venue. As soon as we walked in, we felt at home.

How was it working with Xsperience Photography’s Associate Photographer Sam?

Again, we knew we made the right choice working with Sam and Xsperience Photography almost immediately. Both Joey and I never like taking pictures, but Sam made us laugh and feel comfortable in front of the camera for the first time ever. I’ve spent hours looking at our sneak peak pictures from our engagement session, and I know the pictures she will take on our wedding day will be just as amazing.
