When your heart says elope, but you want to include your family, the perfect compromise is a small intimate Destination Wedding. Ashley and Nate have family in Minnesota and Wisconsin so they searched for a venue that would be a nice drivable distance for all. They fell in love with Larsmont Cottages nestled on the north shore of Lake Superior so they made the drive from their current home in Indiana and celebrated becoming husband and wife with some beautiful views, ducks and geese passing by and the sound of water pushing its way onto the rocky shoreline. We started the morning getting ready in the perfectly crafted cottages with its white shiplap, stone fireplace and balcony overlooking the lake. We took a much needed, but brief moment to recognize Ashley’s mother who passed away a couple years ago. Brief to prevent an overflow of tears. You’ll have to look closely at the image of Ashley reading a handkerchief from her aunt…as a white seagull made an appearance in the background, and soon after, as we were about to do the first look, her mother in heaven must not have been able to hold back her tears, because one rain cloud appeared and the downpour began. As quickly as the rain came, it left, and what remained was the perfect wedding day. It too was a special, much needed, but brief moment.
“Our wedding day was absolutely incredible. From the moment I met eyes with my soon to be husband I knew that nothing else mattered. All of the stress and worries of a perfect day melted away as I looked into the eyes of my forever. Our day was amazing thanks to our supportive and helpful family, incredible vendors, and the beauty of the north shore.” ~Ashley
