Glacier National Park October Elopement | Lindsay+Pat • Xsperience Photography

Lindsay and Pat were in the midst of wedding planning when Lindsay’s heart spoke loud and clear… “let’s elope at Glacier National Park this Fall instead!”. Pat being the understanding and gentleman he is, didn’t hesitate for a second. Next thing they knew they were booking a cabin in Whitefish, packing their bags, and flying off to Montana for a brisk October Elopement in one of the greatest National Parks in America.

We began the day at their cabin in Kalispell. They rented a modern home tucked away in the tall pines for a couple days. It was the perfect blend of modern beauty and simplicity…the same words I would use to describe Lindsay:) We then went on our adventure to Glacier National Park. We took a 2 mile hike to Avalanche Lake where Lindsay and Pat swapped their hiking gear for wedding attire behind a tree just off the beaten path. We took our time there, taking in all the incredible views Avalanche Lake offers. After the chill sunk into our bones, we decided to make our way back to celebrate with some champagne as the sun set over Lake McDonald. It doesn’t get much sweeter than this.

Why did you decide to elope?

I personally have never envisioned myself having a large wedding. When I first met, Patrick, I let him know that I had no desire for a big traditional wedding. We had a small, chic, city wedding, planned in downtown Chicago. As planning progressed and I saw all of the nonsense of it… I asked him if we could scrap it and just do raw, bare-bones and just us. When we both agreed it would be best, we went for it!

Why did you choose Glacier National Park for Elopement Destination?

It’s absolutely stunning! From the east side to the west side… You can’t go wrong. Walking out and seeing Avalanche Lake was a moment I will never forget. I truly felt present and whole in that moment. How real God is for a place so beautiful to exist on earth.
