Jer and Kelsey hosted the sweetest Fall Micro Wedding at Gooseberry Falls State Park. Gooseberry Falls State Park is located on the North Shore of Lake Superior alongside the iconic Gooseberry Waterfalls. It offers Seasonal Campgrounds, as well as a Lakeview picnic shelter perfect for hosting small wedding gatherings. The rugged shoreline, trails through the colorful trees, and textured stone building makes it the ideal Minnesota Outdoor Micro Wedding Venue!!

Their wedding day began with getting ready at separate sites. Jer at a nearby Airbnb, and Kelsey at Cove Point in Silver Bay. They shared their first look near the cove in one of the only shade spots we could find mid-day. Jer’s reaction was priceless. The love he has for his bride was so evident and heartwarming.

Our goal following the first look was to have a little adventure, just the three of us, to see the waterfalls at Gooseberry Falls. Unfortunately Jer broke his foot not long before the wedding day so the mile hike there and back would have left us in a bit of time crunch, as well as with a sore groom the rest of the evening. We decided it be best to take a shorter stroll through the woods near the picnic shelter and focus on their small, but very meaningful, group of friends and family members. Following the ceremony, everyone shared social hour on the hill overlooking Lake Superior and then was graced with a delicious catered meal by Blackwoods Catering. The Lakeview Picnic Shelter was so beautifully and colorfully decorated by Kelsey’s mom and a team of talented ladies she is lucky to have in her life.

Why did you choose Gooseberry Falls State Park for your small Minnesota destination wedding venue?

Jer and I both grew up in Northern Minnesota and love hunting and fishing. We picked Gooseberry Falls on the North Shore because we felt the area represented everything we love- water, trees, and the opportunity to enjoy Fall weather and colors. It was the perfect venue for us!
