Kate and Jason Kasella hosted their wedding at their farm located in rural Central Minnesota. What began as a simple, affordable idea, turned into quite the project. But that project definitely paid off! They converted their cattle and crop farm into a beautiful and efficient outdoor wedding venue. After their ceremony in Buckman, friends, family and neighbors made their way to the farm. They enjoyed friendly conversation, a delicious catered meal, drinks and dancing. The kids ran free, splashing in mud and creating their own version of a corn maze. Many fun memories were created on this Summer day in August.
What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
Our favorite part of the wedding day was dancing to the band. They played a song dedicated to us and everyone gathered around. It was a fun memory we will cherish always.
What was the challenges of hosting a wedding at your farm?
We originally chose the farm for or wedding venue because we thought we would save money. However, we found out quickly that certainly was not the case. We still believe it was 100% worth it because the investment was personal. All the work we did to our home to turn it into a beautiful venue, will stay with us forever. We could have easily payed 10’s of thousands of dollars for another place to host us, but then that money would be gone the next morning we wake up.
Another challenge was all the prepping and planning involved. We spent most of our Summer evenings preparing for this day. Luckily we have incredible people in our lives who helped us out.
This is our forever home and having our special day here was definitely worth every penny.
Do you have any advice for couples who plan on hosting their own wedding in their backyard, in their home, or at their farm?
No matter how much work or money you invest in making your day special, remember to keep in mind what the day is truly about. Your new marriage!! Try to let go of the stress, be present, and enjoy every second, otherwise all that work and money really didn’t matter. Make it matter and make it memorable!
What are your goals now that you’re married?
Our goals for married life is to continue to be best friends and build a family we can love and grow with.
