Alexandria Destination Wedding | Lakeside Ballroom

This beautiful destination wedding took place just outside of one of Minnesota’s most sought after summer getaway spots, the Alexandria area. A wedding day can be so much more than just posing for photos and saying “I Do”. It’s an opportunity to bring loved ones together and have one helluva time!! Hence why intimate destination weddings were created;)

I think I was just as excited for Alyssa and Nolan’s wedding day as they were. They are both so incredibly sweet, and gorgeous, so I knew it was going to be a great day filled with many beautiful moments. And I was not wrong…see for yourself

The Minnesota Destination Wedding Timeline with Added Lutheran Church Ceremony

I think one of the top reasons some couples choose not to have a destination wedding is they feel the need to honor their traditional religious ceremony that their parents know and love. Alyssa and Nolan found the perfect compromise. They chose a sought after destination venue and enjoyed a few nights on the lake, but also found a small church nearby willing to marry them.

We started photos at the Grandstay Hotel & Suites in Glenwood, MN, then made our way to Lookout Point for the first look. Nolan was crying before he even turned to see his beautiful bride. It was a pretty sweet moment. We took advantage of the scenic views and captured family and wedding party formals before heading to the church, Fron Lutheran in Starbuck.  After the ceremony we made a quick pit-stop at Morning Glory Gardens where I had just enough time to shoot another roll of film!  We ended the evening at Lakeside Ballroom where I got to join in on the pontoon fun prior to the grand entrance.  It was the perfect amount of love, joy, and photography for this Minnesota girl!!

The historic Lakeside Ballroom stood for 90 years on the shores of Lake Minnewaska. The original ballroom burned down in 2003. A couple years later, lucky for all of us Minnesota wedding vendors and newly engaged couples, the new Lakeside Ballroom opened its doors and it has been a sought after destination wedding venue in west central Minnesota ever since. Lakeside offers a full restaurant, a classy lounge and an elegant dance hall.
