A Fun Fall Lake Wedding In Central Minnesota

Oh where to begin… FUN is an understatement when describing this small wedding on the lake! Sam and Troy sure know how to get married AND have a good time. Seems like a given, but you’d be surprised at how many couples get caught up in the hoopla and stresses of the day and they forget to let loose and enjoy themselves. It’s actually the number one reason I specialize in small weddings and elopements. It definitely was not the case here in St. Joseph though as everyone shared drinks, laughs, stories and even did a little golfing in Watab Lake!

“On December 21, 2018, after nearly 8 years together, Troy and I were finally engaged. We chose September 26, 2020 as our wedding date so that we could take our time planning our wedding. We originally wanted something small and intimate but came to realization we had a lot of people we wanted to include in our special day. (Our wedding party alone was 28 people!) Our small wedding became a large wedding very quickly (300-500 people). Everything was going as to planned until… March 2020-Global Pandemic strikes. As spring of 2020 went by, I would be lying if we weren’t getting nervous about our September nuptials. We stayed optimistic, but knew in our hearts that we had to downsize our wedding. It was tough to cut down the guest list, however there was no other option. Our once small wedding that turned large, had once again became the small wedding we originally talked about. Luckily for us, Troy’s parents have an amazing home in Saint Joseph, MN on Watab Lake. Their beautiful backyard became the backdrop for our ceremony and reception. With the help of Albany General Rental, St. Cloud Floral, Pleasureland, Prom’s Roasting, Cold Spring Bakery, Clean Cut Lawn and Landscape of Sauk Rapids, Josh Johnson aka Soulfulsounder, Trisha from Xsperience Photography, Poppy Salon, family and friends, our wedding became that of our dreams. Even though COVID-19 threw some curve balls at us, our day was perfect! It not only showed us how strong our love for each other is, but how much WE are loved. We couldn’t have imagined our day any other way. We are so blessed. We are beyond thankful for the wonderful support we have in our lives. If we can survive planning a wedding during a global pandemic together, you all better watch out. We are unstoppable. Cheers to forever together.”
