Lake Tahoe is a dream destination wedding location. The beauty is truly magnificent. Combine the snow capped mountains and the clear blue lake with the endless outdoor activities and it’s an outdoor enthusiasts slice of heaven. It’s no wonder Sam and Matt chose Lake Tahoe to host their intimate Destination Wedding.
What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
“The private vows” ~Matt
“The private vows. It was so amazing to read our vows to each other privately. We are both pretty uncomfortable with being the center of attention and acting mushy in front of other people, so this was the perfect way to say our vows. We were able to be unreserved and emotional, cry, and be truly honest about our feelings and thoughts.
Our ceremony was a close second. It was another sweet, emotional part of the day since our friend Dan was our officiant and our friend Kylie wrote our ceremony.” ~Sam
Why did you choose Lake Tahoe?
We chose Tahoe because we love it and it’s absolutely stunning. We have taken many trips there with friends and family and got engaged there as well, so it’s a special and familiar place to us.
What was your goal for the Wedding day?
Our goal for the wedding day was bringing all the people we love together to witness us commit our lives to each other. We considered eloping (multiple times), but knew it wouldn’t be the same without our loved ones there to support us.
Any tips or advice for engaged couples?
“Don’t forget to spend time together at the wedding.” ~Matt
- Don’t get too wrapped up in the tiny details. It was so hard for me to relax the morning of our wedding because I was trying to remember and manage everything. Everyone says this, but remember to be in the moment and enjoy it, it goes by so fast.
- Schedule time to spend with your spouse, because you will be pulled in so many directions and it’s nice to have time to sneak off together, breathe, and enjoy each other’s company.
- Also, even if you don’t want a full planner, hire a day-of coordinator. We can’t even imagine communicating with vendors and setting up on top of everything else.
- AND… wedding planning is stressful and it can cause tension. Remember to appreciate each other and take time to do and talk about things unrelated to the wedding.” ~Sam
Honeymoon plans…
We decided to keep it close to home because of nursing school, so we are going on a cruise to Alaska at the beginning of August! We’ve never been there together, so we are excited!
Goals for married life…
We want to travel to more places together and experience new things. Our next big adventure on the list is going to Austria and Germany. We will continue to support each other in continued education and career expansion. We will keep being each other’s best friend and making each other laugh.
