My favorite things about being a photographer is creating sweet memories for people to reflect on, and the new friends I gain in the process! I met Nicole and her boys last summer when we documented her childhood farm in rural Upsala, MN before it was sold. We instantly became friends. I mean, how can we not…one who values nostalgic moments and one who lives for capturing them!! So I was excited when she contacted me this summer to spend the day at the lake with her and her family. We visited Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, Mn before heading to their cabin hosted by Grand View Lodge, but on the South East side of the lake.

Sipho and Nicole were able to relax, take in the lake views, and watch Louis enjoy the water and sand. Since Louis is transitioning for a boy to a young man we documented both sides of this moment in life. His “fun loving, sand burying, water splashing side”, and his “grown-up grill for the family side”. Yes, Layna and I even got to enjoy some delicious grilled steaks…yummmm.
